The village of Plainfield recently celebrated the promotion of four police officers.

During the May 1 Plainfield village board meeting, officials began the meeting with a ceremony to promote several police officers. Police Chief Robert Miller introduced four officers and thanked the board for the opportunity to share the good news.

“It is very important to us, and I know it's been talked about in the past that it's important to you as well. When we have career milestones like this for you to let us play this out right here with the group’s family and friends, because this is really, really an important accomplishment in these officers’ lives and careers,” Miller said.

Detective Amanda Felgenhauer, Detective Dino Dabezic, and Officer Ryan Sester were promoted to the rank of Sergeant and Kevin McQuaid was promoted to the rank of Commander. Mayor John Argoudelis issued an oath of office for the Sergeants, and then another for Commander McQuaid.

The officers were invited to bring up their families as “it is tradition that we do a badge pinning on ceremony by a family member,” Chief Miller explained. Felgenhauer was pinned by her husband Jason, Dabezic was pinned by his son Aiden, Sester by his wife Casey, who is a fellow Plainfield police officer, and McQuaid was pinned by his wife Sarah. Miller encouraged them all to witness the moment as “it's a special moment for both the officers getting promoted and their family members.”

“I would like to congratulate those officers. I would also like to congratulate the previous patrol officers that were sworn in this past Monday,” Trustee Cally Larson said at the meeting. “We have a lot of change happening within our police department and it's an exciting time with the new chief and with a lot of change happening. It's nice sometimes to see things move around and congratulations to each and every one of them.”
