Jim Marter the Kendall County Republican Chairman running against U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-IL) in Illinois’ 14th District is criticizing Underwood’s policies, particularly her support for the Biden Administration’s stance, which he claims involves funding state sponsors of terror like Iran and the PLO.
“When America fails to lead, evil takes the lead. The policies of my opponent have not only been one of appeasement but have gone far beyond to actually funding state sponsors of terror,” Marter said in a press release.
“I’m referring to Lauren Underwood and her rubberstamping of the failed policies of the Biden Administration. Not only has she failed to call out anti-Semitism in her own party, regularly coming from House Democrats Omar and Tlaib, she has done nothing to stop the millions of dollars helping Iran, the largest state sponsor of terror and the PLO, supporters of the terrorist group Hamas, now waging war on our ally, Israel.”
“I want the American people, the people of my district and our friends in Israel to know that I support them in their right to exist and defend themselves against their enemies. This is consistent with my policy stances and the antithesis of my opponent Lauren Underwood.”
“She does not represent the values of her district and she does not support the interests of our most important ally in the Middle East, Israel. That’s why I’m working hard to replace her and I will in the next General Election. Bad policies ruin economies and embolden evil and we’re seeing that manifested at home and abroad. Under President Trump, we had peace and strength in our military and this would not have happened on his watch. We need him back.”
Marter recently called on Underwood, to denounce a recent social media post by BLM Chicago that featured an image of a Hamas parachutist with the caption “I stand with Palestine.” He urged Underwood to condemn any support for terrorist groups, stating that it’s unthinkable for anyone to approve of the activities of Hamas, a U.S. State Department-designated terrorist group.
Underwood has garnered one of the most liberal voting records in Congress, surpassing members of “The Squad,” including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib, according to America Rising.
Her controversial statements in Congress, such as suggesting that the death of migrants at the border was intentional, sparked criticism and scrutiny of her actions.
In a recent post, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene referred to Congress’ Democratic “Squad”, including Congresswomen Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) as the “Hamas Caucus” after they called for an “immediate deescalation and cease-fire in Israel and occupied Palestine.”
This nickname is used to suggest that these progressive lawmakers are in favor of Hamas and against Israel, particularly in the context of recent developments in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Underwood provided a statement on X after the attacks.
“I am horrified by acts of violence and attacks on civilians in Israel today, and I strongly condemn these terrorist acts. My prayers are with the people of Israel and the families whose loved ones have been lost or wounded today,” she said.
