Will-Grundy-Kendall ROEs Part 4: Public meeting; PDA dissolution, and Contract cancelation

This is part 4 in a series of articles on the Will County and Grundy-Kendall Counties Regional Offices of Education (“ROE”). Read parts 12 – and 3

During this morning’s meeting (video available here) of the Professional Development Alliance (“PDA”), we provided public comment and asked several questions of the board members present.

We asked about the former contract between the PDA and Vista Learning, among other things.

The Superintendent of the Grundy-Kendall County ROE (“GKROE”) stated that his ROE would most likely dissolve the PDA by the end of June 30, 2024 (see approx. the 45:15-minute mark in the below video). He stated they would have one more meeting, we are not sure if that meant the PDA would have one more meeting, or if the ROE would have one more meeting prior to making its final decision.

This would effectively dissolve the PDA, which was a creature of an intergovernmental agreement between the two Regional Offices of Education.

This dissolution would also terminate the employment of all PDA employees. Whether they are absorbed into one or both of the ROEs is yet to be determined.

After the meeting was adjourned, we discussed the contract issue with the Grundy-Kendall ROE, and he informed us that the contract between his ROE and Vista Learning was canceled by Vista Learning at the end of October 2023 and that all of the employees who resigned from the PDA at the end of September and were later hired by the GKROE, also resigned at the end of October 2023. More on this in a future article.
