Report: Newark spent $8,953 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Newark Community Consolidated School District 66 is up 3 percent from five years ago, according to a Kendall County Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Kendall County school district spent $8,656 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,953 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 220 to 263.

Newark's spending in 2016-17 was 31 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
