How much has CUSD 308 overspent over the past 10 years?

Oswego Community Unit School District 308 accumulated $253.94 million in debt between fiscal years 2008 and 2017, according to a Kendall County Times analysis of public schools data.

Spending and revenue data obtained for this analysis comes from the Illinois Local Education Agency Retrieval Network (ILEARN), which is part of the Illinois State Board of Education and collects data annually on school district financials.

Over the 10-year span, CUSD 308 reported 44.2 percent more revenue. At the same time, total spending went up 1.6 percent. The resulting deficit grew by 89.6 percent from 2008 to 2017.
