Report: Newark spent $19,158 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Newark Community High School District 18 is up 37.3 percent from five years ago, according to a Kendall County Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Kendall County school district spent $13,957 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $19,158 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 186 to 168.

Newark's spending in 2017-18 was 43.6 percent higher than the state average of $13,337.
