City of Yorkville City Council Met Feb. 23.
Here is the minutes provided by the council:
Mayor Bob Dowell opened the meeting and thanked everyone for attending. All stood and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Clerk Cindy McFarland called roll. Those in attendance were Mayor Bob Dowell, Clerk Cindy McFarland, and Aldermen: Amy Chernowsky, Rachel Lantz, Butch Nichols, Chris Reichert, and Angella Thompson. Also present were Linda Wasilewski, Rex Kieffer, Tom Croft Sr, and Phil Cornell.
Mayor Dowell presented the Streets report. Alderman Lantz presented the Cemetery report. Alderman Thompson said that she wanted to let the council know that a farmer outside of Petersburg is interested in selling hemp products at the Farmers Market. She explained that this is not marijuana and that hemp is regulated by the Department of Agriculture. The Mayor asked the council if there were any questions or concerns. There were none.
Motion made by Alderman Lantz, seconded by Alderman Chernowsky, to accept the February 2021 police, treasurers', water, sewer, streets and alleys, fleet maintenance, and office manager's reports. Ayes: Chernowsky, Lantz, Nichols, Reichert, and Thompson. Motion passed.
Motion made by Alderman Reichert, seconded by Alderman Thompson, to accept the February 2021 council meeting minutes and approve the payment of the February 2021 bills. All ayes. Motion passed.
Mayor Dowell asked if anyone had any questions. Alderman Reichert asked if we were having the Salute to America this year. Mayor Dowell said to have the American Legion call Nicole to make sure the park is available and then they could come to next month's meeting to present and discuss fireworks. There was discussion about spring yard sales. Alderman Reichert asked about a problem property that is looking bad again. Mayor Dowell explained that this property had previously been resolved in court so would need to start the process over again. The Mayor thanked everyone, and the meeting adjourned at 7:20pm.
