On April 17th, First Lady M.K Pritzker was appointed to the Committee for the Preservation of the White House, shortly after Chicago was announced as the host city for the 2024 Democratic Convention.
“No one better I can think of to be appointed to the Committee for the Preservation of the White House than my wife, MK!” Gov. JB Pritzker wrote.
M.K Pritzker will serve on the Committee for the Preservation of the White House, alongside 17 other members. The committee's honorary chair is the current first lady of the United States, Jill Biden. Governor Pritzker expressed his pride in a recent Twitter post, stating that he couldn't think of anyone better than his wife for the position.
The White House announced in a press release that one of the key reasons for selecting Illinois' First Lady for the Committee for the Preservation of the White House was her remarkable work in restoring the previously dilapidated Illinois Governor's Mansion in Springfield. M.K. Pritzker has written a book documenting the restoration project, which not only celebrates the modernization of the Italianate-Greek Revival mansion but also traces the evolution of the house since its construction in 1855.
Pritzker, the billionaire inheritor of the Hyatt family fortune, is often viewed as having aspirations of residing permanently in the White House as President. Speculation about his political interests increased after his visits last year to New Hampshire and Florida, two critical election year states. Despite these rumors, Pritzker has repeatedly denied having any immediate plans of running for the Oval Office. He has specifically stated that he would not consider a presidential run if President Biden decides to seek reelection for a second term.
