CITY OF YORKVILLE: Hiring for the Position of Maintenance Worker

City of Yorkville issued the following announcement on Sept. 18.

The United City of Yorkville is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Maintenance Worker II in the City’s Public Works Department, Water Division. This position works cooperatively with all divisions of Public Works performing a variety of tasks. Primary duties within the Water Division include, but are not limited to, the following: Water treatment plant operation, maintenance and repair; SCADA system operation; deep well operation; water main and service line repairs; hydrant and valve repairs; utility locates; and meter reading, testing, repair and installation. Applicants must be available for 24-hour call out duty to include snow plowing and emergency maintenance as necessary.

This position requires three to five years of previous Public Works experience and a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement. This person must be willing to obtain a Class C Public Water Supply Operators certificate within 12 months of hire. Internal applicants should be in good standing with the City and demonstrate excellent customer service skills in their current position.
